Geo-Ecological Importance of Kaziranga National Park: A Review
Main Article Content
Abstract
Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Assam, India, is renowned for its rich biodiversity and exceptional ecological significance. This review paper explores the geo-ecological aspects of the park, highlighting its unique geographical setting in the Brahmaputra floodplains, dynamic ecosystem processes, and crucial role in the conservation of endangered species such as the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. The paper discusses the interplay between Kaziranga’s geomorphological features and ecological functions, the anthropogenic pressures it faces, and the ongoing conservation efforts aimed at sustaining its ecological integrity.
